The Audrey Hepburn Collection DVD

For Christmas this year I got from my mum,who knows me too well, a DVD set of three Audrey Hepburn films: Funny Face, also starring Fred Astaire, the whimsical Sabrina and of course the all-time classic Breakfast at Tiffany's. I love and adore all of these films so I thought I would do a review of the boxset as a whole for you and provide links to reviews of individual films as and when I post them. I've had a look online and a boxset of six films (including these three as well as Roman Holiday, My Fair Lady & Paris When It Sizzles) costs from Amazon around £20. I don't know how much mine cost as it was a gift but my mother is a great bargain shopper so I would estimate no more than £10. Personally I think this is great value as I've watched all three a few times and it would be a good gift for any Audrey fan!

In terms of the special features: you don't get a lot but they are quite good. The trailers for Breakfast at Tiffany's and Funny Face are included as well as a "Retrospective Documentary" on Paramount in the 1950's and a photo gallery on Funny Face. Sabrina includes a documentary on the film and a photo gallery but no trailer. These are fairly unusual extras but for anyone interested in old films it may be a good resource to start learning a bit more about the history of Hollywood.

Sabrina is the only one of the three in black and white. Obviously they are all classic films so the colour and picture quality isn't as crisp as we're used to but you're watching a piece of cinema history so really I think it just adds to the experience. It's rated PG but I can't think of anything that would make it inappropriate for children. I remember loving watching old movies with my grandparents when I was younger and that was probably when I first fell in love with films. We must have watched My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Annie and Black Beauty about a million times as they didn't have many child friendly videos, i.e. not war related or westerns, which my sister and I were never allowed to watch. I still can't believe no-one watches video tapes any more - it's weird how suddenly they just disappeared from our lives.

Overall I think this DVD is a fantastic group of movies. I've been unable to find it online with the same combination and sadly I don't know where it came from so I can't put up a link to it. However, I definitely recommend getting your hands on it if you happen to get the chance.
What are your favourite Audrey Hepburn movies? Leave a comment - I'd love to hear about when you first fell in love with movies or a favourite film from when you were young.
I also have a question and this post seems like a good place to ask it. I've been thinking about including links to Amazon on my film reviews which would give you the option of either buying the DVD or just having a look and reading some customer reviews, etc. Would that be helpful and improve the experience of reading this blog, or just be irritating? Please let me know what you think.
Thanks for reading, have a lovely weekend!
