Happy Sunday!

Today is quite a weird day for me. I hope you're all enjoying Father's Day and give the dad's and grandad's in your lives some love (and also check out the Google doodle) but, for reasons I won't go into, it's not a happy day in our family. Anyway, I have lots of posts planned for this week and here's what I've been upto this weekend! XOXO

Domestic Goddesses
Me and my friend spent Saturday doing some baking for her mum's art show in the evening and here are the (slightly messy) results.

Blue icing and magic stars...
And then..
I must be the only 16 year old who couldn't tong her hair until today!
Zooey who?
That's right - I taught myself to curl my hair (achievement for someone who used to not know what dry shampoo was), which I've wanted to do for ages. Upto now if I wanted curls I washed my hair and let it airdry but now I can look like this whenever I want without water and shampoo and a lot of time.

Jess from New Girl is my idol in all things hair related and this picture is unbelievably cute.
However, no credit is taken by this blog for Zooey Deschanel's awesome-ness: ie THIS PICTURE IS NOT MINE. I still don't really know the rules for this stuff :/

Feeling creative...
Maybe the art show inspired me but for a while I've been missing doing anything artistic since my art GCSE ended so I started doing another painting. Maybe I will put it on here but it's nowhere near done yet. I forgot how fun and relaxing it is to just sit down and make something so I will have to do some more art stuff in the next few weeks. These are some cards I bought at the Open Studios exhibition.

What do you think? The cheetah is by my friends amazing mum and the photograph of water is by her friend. It was good to see all their work as I'm used to going over there and seeing the house knee-deep in paint and mess! It's nice that it's not just my family.

Also these = hours of work and they're still wobbly. I will master nail art eventually. Also sorry for the terrible quality pictures.

Mermaid, watery inspired nails.

I used (left to right) ArtDeco Calcium Nail Builder as a base coat, Barry M Nail Paint in Blue Moon to do the colour, Rimmel Lasting Finish in Green Grass for the stripe, Models Own Wah Nails Nail Art Pen for the black lines and finally Barry M Basecoat Topcoat & Nail Hardener All-in-one as a top layer. This is my miracle product. I use it endlessly and it dries perfectly and chipfree without fail. I will forever love the friend who first gave me a bottle.

Finally...
I'm obsessed with this song although I'm very behind the rest of the world on discovering Alanis Morrisette.

And also this has taken up a lot of my revision time lately - I dare you to watch it and tell me you didn't
a) laugh
b) feel better about the world :D

Have a lovely week and pop back here for some new movie reviews - hopefully one a day this week!

(All pictures my own, except the obvious, ie: other people's artwork.)

  1. Beautiful job on the cupcakes, hair, and nails! I LOVE New Girl. Zooey is so FUNNY! I'm sad the season is over :( Alanis Morissette's CD 'Jagged Little Pill' was the first CD I ever got and I'm so proud of that haha.
